Siemens announced the latest Simcenter software release, with updates across the portfolio intended to support simulation workflows, design exploration and earlier engineering decisions.

As engineering systems become more complex, teams are being asked to evaluate more design options while managing connected mechanical, electrical, thermal and software-related requirements. The latest Simcenter updates are designed to support faster simulation, earlier insight and more connected workflows across disciplines.

This release is the first to bring Siemens and Altair simulation technologies into a unified simulation portfolio. The integration is intended to help engineering teams apply simulation across more workflows, reduce tool complexity and support design decisions.

AI-based capabilities in the Simcenter portfolio are designed to help engineers identify promising concepts earlier and reduce reliance on repeated full simulation runs. This allows teams to reserve detailed simulation for the cases where it provides the most value.

AI-based simulation with Simcenter PhysicsAI

Simcenter PhysicsAI is now integrated across more products in the Simcenter portfolio. The geometric deep learning technology uses simulation data to create predictive models that help engineers evaluate design concepts faster than traditional solver simulations. Data and models generated with Simcenter PhysicsAI can be used by Siemens’ Intelligence Center X industrial AI orchestration software.

When integrated into Siemens’ Simcenter Inspire software, Simcenter PhysicsAI helps engineers predict results across structural analysis and production processes, including casting, molding, die stamping and extrusion. Siemens also has extended PhysicsAI in Simcenter Hypermesh to support more efficient data training and result review.

With multi-GPU support in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ software, Simcenter PhysicsAI can train AI models from computational fluid dynamics, or CFD, simulations faster and support additional design iterations.

Siemens also introduced Simcenter PhysicsAI Generate, which allows teams to create design concepts using existing knowledge and product data. The physics-aware generative AI engine creates concepts based on target dimensions, performance KPIs and historical training data.

Integration of Simcenter Simsolid with Designcenter for advanced product engineering allows simulation to be run directly on the geometry without the need to create a mesh, allowing designers to quickly assess performance in minutes, not hours

Moving simulation earlier in design

The updates also are intended to make simulation easier to use earlier in the product lifecycle. Engineers can evaluate performance directly on 3D CAD models with limited preparation, which can help support earlier design decisions.

This capability is enabled through integration of Simcenter Simsolid software with Siemens’ Designcenter software for product engineering. Designcenter geometry can be transferred to Simcenter Simsolid, where loads and constraints are applied and simulation is run directly on the geometry without creating a mesh.

Multiphysics simulation updates

The latest release continues Siemens’ work to connect simulation technologies across multiple domains. The updates focus on links between electromagnetic, thermal and system simulation workflows for complex systems.

For example, engineers can connect electromagnetic, thermal and system simulation workflows to evaluate electric powertrain performance earlier. New capabilities include exporting reduced motor models from Simcenter Flux software into system and 3D simulation tools, along with enhanced multiphysics simulation in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ for applications such as motor cooling and battery thermal behavior.

Together, the updates support a more connected simulation environment within the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. The release is designed to help engineering teams move information across design, validation and operation while supporting faster development and reduced design risk.
